Mike Power Candidate for Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge
Mike Power: Candidate for Judge of the Delaware County
Court of Common Pleas

I was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended Emory University where I met my wife Marcy.  After graduation in 1983, we moved to Philadelphia where I studied law at Temple University and graduated in 1986. We moved to Delaware County 31 years ago to raise our family.

When I started my legal career, my practice included commercial law, medical malpractice and insurance defense work, bankruptcy and trademark litigation. I subsequently became aware that my real professional calling was not representing business or insurance interests, but rather in helping every-day people who faced real world, day-to-day issues.

I established my own law firm, Power & Associates, P.C .in 1995, and have practiced in Delaware County since. My practice primarily consists of representing every-day consumers, parents and workers against large corporations and merchants who sell defective or unsafe vehicles or engage in consumer fraud.  I also handle zoning and land use matters and have proudly served as Darby Borough’s Zoning Hearing Board solicitor since 1995.

Approximately twenty years ago I was a co-founder of the Thornbury Township Democratic Committee and subsequently served as chair where I worked with committee members and Cheyney University students in campus voter registration drives. I successfully represented Cheyney University students before the Republican controlled County Board of Elections to defeat the Board’s attempt to move the Cheyney polling location away from Cheyney's campus and outside the geographical borders of the Cheyney University voting precinct.

From 2010 until November 2024, I served as the Treasurer of the Delco Dems and its affiliated PACs and served on the Delco Dems Executive Committee. I also served as Treasurer for the various Delco Victory county-wide campaign committees in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. I worked with various individual county-wide and state legislative candidates to create their individual candidate committees and counseled their treasurers on ensuring compliance with campaign finance laws. I worked with Democrats throughout the county in establishing various municipal committees, aiding in recruitment and training of municipal committee treasurers, and provided on-going training and counsel regarding campaign finance law compliance.

My law office has been used for many years for election phone banking for national, state-wide and local candidates as well as various local municipal committees. My law office has also served as a base for political field operations, including the Barack Obama campaign, as well as campaign headquarters for several Democratic state legislative candidates including Elizabeth Moro, Cathy Spahr and Beth Alois.
